GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

My friends would describe me as tenacious, compassionate, and relatable.

HAVE YOU SEEN "50 SHADES OF GREY?" IF YOU HAVE, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT? IF YOU HAVEN'T, WOULD YOU SEE IT?

I have not seen the movie yet, but I have read the trilogy. I will probably wait until it is released on Netflix or Redbox to see it.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

I would come back as a Doberman Pinscher. They are strong, beautiful, sweet, attentive and smart! I may be a little partial; I have two sweet, fun-loving Dobermans at home named Tyson and Timber.

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Don’t get me wrong, I love designer shoes, but I can live without them. Some of my favorite pairs of shoes are not designer shoes, but they are comfortable and fashionable.

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

I do not believe there is a place for sexuality education in elementary curriculum.  There is beauty in innocence. I believe the parents can choose to educate their children at a younger age if under the circumstances it is necessary.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

In the next five years I plan to be a law school graduate and well into my career as a successful patent and trademark attorney. Additionally I would like to be a part-time legal contributor for a major news network.

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

I would not address the candidate’s opinion. Being a public figure, I am subject to public scrutiny every day. I have learned that I cannot be concerned with the judgments people make upon me, I can only be positive and be an active leader to those I meet. I am compassionate and a hard worker. I stay focused on my goals and where I am headed in my future endeavors.

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Physical appearance is important to me. I once heard someone say “ You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Not only are we judged by our physical appearance when we meet someone in person, but people also formulate opinions about us from our online profiles. I would like for my physical appearance to illustrate that I am a happy and healthy individual.

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

I would love to be Sofia Vergara for one week. Sofia seems bigger than life with her bold personality and her full appreciation for femininity. I am also Latina, therefore I feel somewhat related to her already!

HAVE YOU EVER HAD COSMETIC SURGERY OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION TO YOUR APPEARANCE?

I have had comedic surgery, then five years later I made the decision to reverse the surgical procedure. As I grew and matured I became more comfortable and confident with my body and the way I was made. I do not look down on those who have plastic surgery because I have experienced life with and without cosmetic surgery. I was equally as happy with myself both ways. I believe others should do what is safe and gives them the desired look they are searching for.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE U.S.A.?

I am most proud of the people in America who start their lives from scratch and build families or business that better our country overall. There are so many successful business entrepreneurs in America that I look up to who started at the bottom and climbed the ladder. The freedom we are offered here in America is my most prized possession.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

No, I do not think there should be a certain age where people are forced to retire. Several of my family members did not retire in their professions till well beyond when they were eligible to retire. There is a lot of knowledge these people can pass down that would potentially be lost if they were forced to retire.

IF SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY WAS TERMINALLY ILL AND IN AGONY AND ASKED YOU TO HELP THEM DIE, HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE IT?

I would seek help from a clinical professional. From a legal standpoint, one may be held criminally liable for the mere assistance in the death of another regardless of the deceased’s desires and consent.

HOW SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT RESPOND TO THE THREAT OF ISIS?

The U.S. government must take an active stance on protecting America from any future terrorist attacks. The safety of our people should be of the utmost importance and measures must be taken to see too that American’s safety is the first priority in handing ISIS.

VIRTUALLY ALL TERRORIST ATTACKS SINCE 9/11 HAVE BEEN COMMITTED BY MUSLIMS WHO JUSTIFY THEIR TERRORISM BY QUOTING VIOLENT ACTS FROM THE KORAN. THIS SUGGESTS THAT ISLAM MAY NOT BE A RELIGION OF PEACE. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

I have not studied in enough detail the various elements of the Islamic faith. However, I do not believe we can generalize all people who believe in Islam as evil or violent. I have a Muslim friend who loves America just like I do.

PEOPLE SAY THE MOST PAGEANT CONTESTANTS ARE RELIGIOUS. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

I agree. From my experience most of the contestants are religious. I believe there is a direct correlation between religion and self-esteem. Religion can help guide you during times when you feel vulnerable. If you have every competed in a pageant before there have been several times when you have felt venerability.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

An ethical person treats others they way they would want to be treated. They hold themselves to a high level of integrity and put others before themselves.

CAN A PERSON WHO WAS BORN A MALE, BUT WHO HAS A SEX REASSIGNMENT TO BECOME FEMALE, BE TRULY A FEMALE IN YOUR OPINION?

Unfortunately, to my knowledge there are no procedures that can change males’ genetic chromosomes (XY) to a females (XX). I respect transgender individuals and feel they should be treated as females if they so choose.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

A potential employer will see that I am a social individual and an active leader throughout Louisiana. I am the state’s ambassador for the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. I take pride in my legal education I am receiving at Loyola New Orleans College of Law. Furthermore, through social media others can see that I am happy, healthy, and a diligent worker.

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

I have gained countless networking opportunities by competing in pageants. The personal contacts and relationships I have developed have opened doors I never even know were there.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

   Outgoing, determined, & genuine.

HAVE YOU SEEN "50 SHADES OF GREY?" IF YOU HAVE, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT? IF YOU HAVEN'T, WOULD YOU SEE IT?

I have not seen it yet simply because I don't really care to. I also haven't read any of the books so it doesn't interest me.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

A Golden Retriever like my dog because I swear we have the exact same personality!

NAME THREE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER DO.

Drugs, convert from Christianity, or pick up a tarantula.

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Actually, I can. I'm more about comfort first, looks second. But they still need to be cute! The name of where they came from doesn't matter as much.

SHOULD ABORTION BE BANNED IN THE CASES OF WOMEN WHO HAVE REPEATED ABORTIONS, BUT CONTINUE NOT TO USE BIRTH CONTROL?

I think if someone repeatedly has abortions and still refuses to take birth control, then they should be banned from having another abortion. I am always for life! Accidents can happen and you may not be ready to become a mother yet. However, many people can't get pregnant and they would love to adopt your baby if you're not ready. I think going through the experience of giving birth and putting your baby up for an adoption would quickly change one's mind about being on the pill or not. Hopefully, after going through this experience they would either face their consequences and be a mother, or put their baby up for adoption and get on birth control.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY JONATHAN CARTER

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

I think that might be too young. Junior High would be more appropriate for discussing sex in school. If the parents wanted to discuss it at an earlier age I think it would be better to do so at home.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

I plan to be a very successful and accomplished young woman with the titles of Miss USA and Miss Universe under my belt. I would also most likely be working in Interior Design in hopes of having my own TV show on HGTV.

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

I would say, "I am sorry you feel that way and I hope I change your opinion throughout the year!"

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I think it is important to be physically attractive but it's not everything. For health and personal benefits you should be in shape and love your body! However, to be a fully attractive person most of your beauty comes from within.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY JONATHAN CARTER

DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAN (OR IF YOU'RE GAY, DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WOMAN).

My dream man is a Christian. He is also a leader and a hard worker. Someone that loves traveling and food! Someone that is honest, respectful, witty, charming, and genuine. A man that is interested in helping others and giving back. A man that knows how to let go and have fun but also wants to settle down and have a family!

IF YOU COULD GO ON A BLIND DATE WITH ANY MAN (OR WOMAN), WHOM WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

I would go on a date with Luke Bryan. What woman wouldn't? He's gorgeous and I love his music.

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

I would want to be Heidi Klum back in her Victoria's Secret Angel days. She has always been my favorite angel. I think she is absolutely stunning, and she's been so successful in her lifetime. Heidi Klum seems to know how to manage it all - from her hectic lifestyle, to being a mother.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PAGEANTS LIKE MISS VENEZUELA PROMOTING COSMETIC SURGERY SO MUCH? IS THAT A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EXAMPLE FOR YOUNG WOMEN?

I can see the positive sides from it. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to change something about yourself if you don't like it. If it makes you happier and more confident, then why not?

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

Not necessarily. If the person is mentally and physically healthy enough to keep working then I don't see a problem with it. However, if someone is not healthy and risks a harm to themselves or others then that would be a time to force retirement.

IF SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY WAS TERMINALLY ILL AND IN AGONY AND ASKED YOU TO HELP THEM DIE, HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE IT?

I would never help someone I love die, no matter what the circumstances I would want them to go naturally. I would probably talk to the doctors and see what could be done to ease the pain and I would be there with them until the end.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

They would learn that I'm confident, I love my family and friends, I'm a strong Christian, I love my dog and food, and I am always traveling!

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

I've gained self-confidence and courage to be able to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

I believe my friends would describe me as ambitious, humble, and funny!

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

If I were to come back as an animal in the next life it would most likely be as an otter! Like me, otters are so playful and love spending time by the water!

NAME THREE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER DO.

Three things I would never do are smoke a cigarette, bungee jump, orelope (because what girl hasn’t dreamed of her Cinderella wedding?)

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Although I do love my designer heels, sometimes my budget isn’t as big as I would like! So yes, I could live without my designer heels.

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

I do believe that giving the option for “sexuality education” in schools is important. Keeping children informed about sexual behavior can prevent sexually transmitted diseases as well as teen pregnancies down the road. However, I do believe parents and students both should have the option to decline the class.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

In the next five years I plan to be happy and successful! I hope to have started on my first dietetics based cookbook, “Red Carpet Nutrition,” as well as have a list of celebrity clients who I train to live a healthy lifestyle!

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I do believe physical appearance is important in many aspects. Not only is it important for meeting new people and for employment opportunities, but also for self-confidence. When you feel like you look your best, you are more confident in whatever you are doing!

DO YOU THINK THAT OUR CULTURE IS TOO PREOCCUPIED WITH BEAUTY? HOW COULD WE CHANGE THAT?

I think our culture has become a little caught up in beauty and looks. Most of social media is used for selfies, and magazines continuously promote looking like the “perfect man or woman”. I think instead of promoting our outward appearance, we need to focus on promoting education and teaching young girls the importance of inward beauty.

DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAN (OR IF YOU'RE GAY, DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WOMAN).

The man of my dreams is passionate about what he does, whether it is being a father or running a company, he has a great sense of humor, he is adventurous and loves to go on spontaneous trips, and spoils me with ice-cream after I’ve had a long day!

HAVE YOU EVER HAD COSMETIC SURGERY OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION TO YOUR APPEARANCE?

I personally have never had cosmetic surgery performed. However, it is not because I am against plastic surgery, it is simply because I love myself the way I am!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PAGEANTS LIKE MISS VENEZUELA PROMOTING COSMETIC SURGERY SO MUCH? IS THAT A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EXAMPLE FOR YOUNG WOMEN?

I think promoting girls to have cosmetic surgery in order to win a pageant is a bad example. I don’t think we should be teaching young girls that in order to reach their dreams or become a national titleholder - that they need to first alter their bodies to appear to be perfect.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT AMERICA FACES?

I think the biggest challenge we are facing is the expansion of technology and the loss of face-to-face relationships. Most of our days are spent texting, posting pictures on Instagram, or worrying about how many “followers” we have.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

No, I don’t believe there should be a set age when people are forced to retire. I think that if a man or woman is willing or wants to work, they should be allowed.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH OLDER PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM ALZHEIMER'S AND OTHER LIFE-THREATENING DISEASES WHERE THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES?

I believe that we should open facilities for those who are suffering from diseases and are unable to take care of themselves. These facilities should be safe, clean, and available to anyone who needs the help.

HOW SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT RESPOND TO THE THREAT OF ISIS?

I strongly believe that the U.S. government should take action against ISIS. The United States has never been a country to take terrorism lightly and now should not be the time to start. Many innocent lives have been taken across the globe because of this terrorist group and the U.S. needs to take action to help bring this group to a halt.

DO YOU SUPPORT LAWS TO REQUIRE MANDATORY BILINGUAL EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

Growing up in South Carolina, taking a foreign language was a graduation requirement in school. I definitely agree with this requirement. Learning a new language is important with the growing diversity in the United States. Not only did you learn how to speak and understand different languages, but you learned the culture behind it.

PEOPLE SAY THAT MOST PAGEANT CONTESTANTS ARE RELIGIOUS. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

I would agree that most pageant contestants are religious. I, myself, am very strong and grounded in my beliefs, as well as many of my friends who I have made in the pageant industry.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

Being an ethical person means you have the ability to see the difference between what is right and what is wrong. It also means you always choose to do the right thing according to your morals.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

If a potential employer looked at my social media accounts they would learn that I love to be outdoors at the beach or bowfishing, I am always on the road traveling, and that I spend as much time with my family as I can.

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

By competing in pageants I have gained confidence in myself. When I first began competing I was reserved and introverted. However, over the past few years I have gained a confidence that has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and has opened the doors to so many new opportunities.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

     Genuine. Energetic. Ambitious.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

An otter. They are not only adorable and very relaxed but they also eat quite a bit. They can consume up to 20% of their body weight daily. About 5 hours a day are spent searching for and consuming food! I love food and can’t imagine a better way to spend my day!

NAME THREE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER DO.

     1. Eat any sort of bug, even if it's covered in chocolate
     2. Forget my bug spray when going camping
     3. Skip dessert

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

YES! I live in tennis shoes not designer shoes. Does Chanel make nice running shoes? I put comfort first followed by style, followed by price. Clearance has always been my best friend. I like to use my money for traveling, my family, my charities, not shoes! I may be the only pageant girl where tennis shoes outnumber the amount of high heels.

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

No. I feel elementary school is way too young to be introducing sexuality education. They should be focusing on learning to love to read and write and how to engage with others! We should be fueling them with a passion for education and learning! In elementary school we should be teaching them how to eat properly and exercise regularly! At that age they should just be kids! I would find middle school to be a more appropriate age for this subject.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

My goal  this moment is to not only be the next Miss USA but the next Miss Universe. With my work ethic and new connections I have made through my pageant experience, I plan to become a sports manager for professional athletes following the pageant. After Miss USA (or Miss Universe) I will go back to school to earn a Master's degree in sports management and will pursue a career with the Minnesota Vikings or Minnesota Wild (my favorite teams)! I plan to expand my management services outside of the state of Minnesota and my goal is to become the best sports manager in the United States, and maybe the future NFL commissioner! Family is also really important to me. In the next 5 years, I hope to be married to my best friend and start planning a family! I would love to have 4 children and have at least one be adopted!

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL SOLBERG

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

I would at first be in complete shock but then I would tell her I worked extremely hard to be on that stage and I did it all for the right reasons. I prayed every day for confidence, strength, and the ability to have the best version of myself shine through on stage. I was at the right place at the right time and paved my path with passion, work ethic, and prayer. I was crowned because it was my time. Everything happens for a reason and just because you don't win a crown doesn’t mean you are incapable of accomplishing bigger and better things. “To be Miss USA you have to BE MISS USA.” I have been at the gym every day, working on my interview, volunteering all my free time to charities of my choice, and feel I walked the walk and talked the talk in preparation for this moment.  I would ask her why she feels I don’t deserve this moment and ask if what I said changed her mind and promise her I will show her I deserve it by being the best Miss USA the Miss Universe Organization has ever seen.

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Yes. Inner beauty and your heart is MORE important but physical appearance still has importance to me. I want to live to 150 years old. I workout to be healthy. I find physical appearance important for personal health. Health is important and when you’re healthy your physical appearance benefits. I also feel when I feel I look my best nothing can ruin my day! When I feel good I am so confident and accomplish so much and overcome any hurdle that comes my way.

DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAN (OR IF YOU'RE GAY, DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WOMAN).

I feel I am lucky enough to already be with my dream man. My dream man is someone who is supportive! Supportive in my dreams to be Miss USA, in becoming the best sports manager in the United States, and any other crazy ambition that pops into my head! If I decide to be an astronaut tomorrow my dream man would ask how he can help. My dream man is extremely kind and generous to those around him. He is a family man. He finds going to church and giving back to others important. My dream man would love my little brother and turn into a positive mentor in his life. My dream man loves to travel and is adventurous. AND FINALLY my dream man is handsome and can cook and clean!

IF YOU COULD GO ON A BLIND DATE WITH ANY MAN (OR WOMAN), WHOM WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

I would hope to go on a blind date with Adam Scott the Australian Hunk. I want to just listen to that accent and maybe he could help my golf game.

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

Rachel Zoe. She is a stylist for the stars! I would love to live her live filled with fashion, models, Starbucks coffee, and an unlimited amount of clothes! I would love to style celebrities for the red carpet and attend fashion shows! I hope I switch places with her I would also get her skill set!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PAGEANTS LIKE MISS VENEZUELA PROMOTING COSMETIC SURGERY SO MUCH? IS THAT A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EXAMPLE FOR YOUNG WOMEN?

I do not believe promoting cosmetic surgery is appropriate. I feel women need to make that decision on their own. I feel (at an appropriate age) that if a woman truly wants plastic surgery (small change, not full body transformation) because it will make her feel more beautiful can be appropriate. But I do not feel we should be promoting cosmetic surgery or putting pressure on young women to alter their bodies. There are enough pressures in this world that we don’t need to be adding more stress on these young ladies. Pageants should focus on empowering women, building confidence, and promoting charities and services rather than altering contestants’ beauty. Interview skills and learning compassion for others through service will take these girls a lot further in their lifetime than a face lift.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT AMERICA FACES?

Childhood obesity. The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. Childhood obesity is a major problem. The ages of children with obesity are getting younger and younger. These bad habits and health risks are starting way too early and then carrying over into their adult life! Obesity leads to so many health risks as well as self esteem issues. Children are not getting enough time for physical activity and are not being exposed to enough healthy food options! Its up to the parents as well as our education system to continue to stress the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Growing up I would play outside every day and would beg my parents to let me stay outside for just 10 more minutes!  I played 3 sports growing up and learned from coaches that eating healthy would enhance my performance on the track and in the ring! As Miss Minnesota USA I do a lot of speaking engagements with children on the importance of this topic and live by example! I enjoy working out and cooking for myself instead of eating out! It’s time to put an end to childhood obesity and make our country a healthier one!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE U.S.A.?

Our "Team Spirit" - We love our country, what we stand for, and the brave men and women that protect that! I have been a spokesperson for Soldiers' Angels since 2009 and a supporter of our military for as long as I can remember. I am most proud of our military and those who stand with them! We have incredible VA hospitals and support systems for our current military, our veterans, and their families.  We sing the National Anthem with pride and wave our flag nice and high!

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

Absolutely not! People should retire when they want. America gives people freedom and to live the American dream you should be able to work and do what you love for as long as you want. Also 34% of adults say they have NO MONEY saved for retirement. This lack of savings may make retiring a tough choice. 49% of people today live paycheck to paycheck to provide for themselves and their families. We should not have a say on when people quit their dream job or cut them off from funds that they need to survive.

HOW SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT RESPOND TO THE THREAT OF ISIS?

The U.S needs to let not only ISIS know but others as well that we will not stand by threats or killing innocent people. We will not live in fear and will not alter the things we take pride in to acknowledge such wicked violence that they are presenting! The United States takes great pride in all of our freedoms, the freedom of speech and religion are two we are especially proud of. We need to acknowledge we have difference in our beliefs system but cannot stoop down to such violence. It’s hard to imagine what evil exists out there but good will always triumph over the bad. We believe in peace and celebrating all cultures that make us unique. If ISIS disagrees with what we stand for there has to be other ways to address their concerns without taking the lives of innocent people.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

I am actually taking a course on ethics in Philosophy. An ethical person is compassionate, hardworking, and strives to always do the right thing.  They obey the law and respect rules that are presented to them. They are hard-working and strive to serve others. They are consistently considerate of others and they do not intentionally harm anyone and always strive to do good work in their life.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

That I am their biggest fan! My future potential employer will hopefully be an NFL or NHL team! I love sports and often post a lot about my favorite teams! They would also learn that I love taking photos of my beautiful dog named Sammy and my perfect Godson Parker. They would see that I’m extremely driven and passionate about my current position of Miss Minnesota USA. My posts show my love for service, my faith, and my family. I aim to be a positive mentor to my peers as well as young girls and boys and my posts reflect that.

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

Confidence: This is obvious. Growing up as a tomboy I had a hard time balancing between wanting to be a girly girl and wanting to stick in sports. Pageants showed me I could be strong and beautiful at the same time! It helps me speak confidently and feel beautiful!

Passion for Service: I love being so involved in community service throughout my reign and participation in pageants! Working with Soldiers’ Angels and supports the troops since 2009 and now working with Miss Amazing, Wounded Warrior Project and many other charities fills my heart! I love serving those who need some extra TLC!

Networking: I have gained so many connections through pageantry. It doesn't matter if I am at the pageant or at an appearance I have met so many wonderful people that are willing to help me find a career or any service I may need! I have been blessed to have a great network of people and it continues to grow every day.

Sisterhood: I grew up with one brother, and although I love him very much, pageants are so great for the sisterhood that they provide! Some of my best friends come from pageantry! I love being surrounded by strong, beautiful, and motivated young ladies that help me grow!

Faith: I remember my first pageant when a fellow contestant grabbed my hand and asked if I wanted to pray before we went on stage.  At the time I was not very strong in my faith and did not pray as often. Pageants have provided me an opportunity to grow in my faith and I have learned that this adventure to Miss USA is a lot better when connected in my faith!

COMPARED TO THE 1950s-1970s, WOMEN TODAY HAVE MORE OPTIONS IN TERMS OF THEIR PERSONAL CHOICES AND PERSONAL LIVES. DESPITE THESE OPTIONS, WHY DO YOU STILL WANT TO BE MISS USA?

Because women today have more options of their personal choices and professional lives. We have unlimited amount of opportunities and Miss USA can and will help us get there. Miss USA will always help empower women to be their best self and provide opportunities that nobody else can. The Miss Universe Organization has allowed me to dream bigger and explore all my choices with personal development and career choice! Miss USA has grown with the times and when women’s opportunities increase Miss USA steps up to provide just as many for young women! Miss USA contestants speak more clearly and confidently and are extremely successful in all aspects of their life!

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

      Goofy, loving, loyal.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

A Golden Retriever! I would love to be someone’s dear companion and friend, sleep lots, and go for long walks, sounds like the life!

NAME THREE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER DO.

Bunge jump- Yikes! Appear on the show, "Fear Factor". Give up coffee - I love it too much!

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I absolutely love shoes, but brand is not what makes it for me. If they make me feel fabulous, that’s good enough for me!

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

Win Miss USA!  Go to and graduate from law school. Start a happy family of my own.

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

I would tell her, “I am sorry you feel that way, but through my reign I hope I can change your mind through the way I represent the title.”

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Physical appearance is important, in the sense that one should be happy with your own appearance. I am a big believer in the saying, “look good, feel good”. If you are pleased with your appearance you are free to consume your thoughts and feelings on other important aspects of life.

DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAN (OR IF YOU'RE GAY, DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WOMAN).

A man who treats me right. He respects me and encourages me to chase all my dreams. He loves me unconditionally, thinks I am beautiful with and without make up :) He is a man who is independent, driven, passionate, and of course handsome!

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

Sandra Bullock! She is my favorite actress and I would love to be able to walk in her shoes for a week!

HAVE YOU EVER HAD COSMETIC SURGERY OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION TO YOUR APPEARANCE?

I have never had cosmetic surgery; the closest thing I have had to any appearance altering procedure is braces for my teeth.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT AMERICA FACES?

Despite all of the challenges the USA faces and the differences among the people, we stand united. I will never forget the great impact 9-11 had on our country, and how people who were once divided, were able to stand together and express their great love of our country together.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

No, I think retirement age should be based upon ability to competently perform job duties. If an individual is still able to complete the duties of their job and have a desire to continue working, they should be allowed to work no matter their age.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH OLDER PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM ALZHEIMER'S AND OTHER LIFE-THREATENING DISEASES WHERE THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES?

These individuals need to be cared for. It should be a decision made by the individual’s family and loved ones if they need to be placed in a home for care or if the family is capable of caring for the individual. If the individual does not have someone who can make good decisions on their behalf, an agency or guardian needs to be appointed to represent their best interest.

IF SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY WAS TERMINALLY ILL AND IN AGONY AND ASKED YOU TO HELP THEM DIE, HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE IT?

I would tell them that I could not help them die, but that I would be with them every step of the way. I would ensure that they were in good care, receiving medication to make them more comfortable, and I would always make sure they had my hand to hold.

I believe these Muslim terrorists who use the Koran to justify these acts of horror, have taken words from the Koran and twisted it to better suit their purpose. It is unfair to say that all followers of the Islam religion are not peaceful.

DO YOU SUPPORT LAWS TO REQUIRE MANDATORY BILINGUAL EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

Yes, I feel it could only benefit our students and create more worldly individuals. I do think the students should be able to choose the language they study though.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

An ethical person is someone who knows the difference between right and wrong and chooses to do the right thing, even when it is often the more difficult choice.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

They would learn that I rarely use social media tools, but through the limited information on my social media profiles, they would get a sense of my quirky personality, and the kind of quality individual I am. I would be happy to allow any employer to review my social media accounts.

WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?

I feel affirmative action has its benefits and draw backs. Affirmative action has assisted in abolishing discrimination, particularly in the work place, which is certainly a good thing. Affirmative action has had a negative impact though as well, I know of someone who was not accepted into medical school and was informed by the admissions board that though this individual was a spectacular applicant, they had filled their quota for a specific race and gender; and for that reason, they could not accept them.  I dream of a day that every person in the United States is judged on their qualifications and not their color, gender, etc.

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

A stronger sense of myself. Prior to competing for Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2010, I was a very quiet, shy young lady. At the end of my reign, I was able to let my personality shine! Everyone around me noticed I was more secure in myself, more confident, happier. My mom likes to say, I have always been a beautiful flower, but the pageant experience has helped me bloom.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

I actually asked my two best friends and together they said - “Ambitious, Fearless, and Dynamic.” I am ambitious in that I work hard, stay focused, and stop at nothing to achieve my goals. I am fearless, in that I’m willing to take chances and full advantage of every opportunity put in front of me. For example, I once was given the opportunity to repel off of a 90-foot castle in Ireland. You can bet your bottom dollar, I did! Finally, I am dynamic - in that I am a very animated person, but I am also someone who is modest and humble. I am a go-getter, but I never forget my blessings.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

I would want to come back as a dolphin! I’ve always had a fascination with water. I was fortunate enough to grow up with a lake outside my bedroom window. I love to go back to my hometown in the summers to go boating, swimming, and fishing with my family. Although the ocean terrifies me (I’m a lake gal) - I’m always willing to take on a new adventure, so I choose a dolphin!

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I’ve never really been big into having designer-anything, to be honest. Growing up, I was always raised to not be materialistic, and rather to just be grateful for the things I do have. I personally would rather put my money towards something other than designer shoes. For example, I’d rather put the money towards buying my precious niece a new toy, or buying my mother flowers to show her how much I love her, or donating it to a local Humane Society to help animals in need. Although I do think it’s important to treat yourself once in a while, I’d personally rather spend my money to be meaningful in the lives of others, than the life of my own.

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?"

I believe sexuality education should be part of the school curriculum in American schools, but at an age that is appropriate and what age that is, I do not feel is clear yet. Without knowing the full content of the program that would be offered, it is hard for me to speak to its impact (positive or negative) on elementary age students.  However, I do believe that sexuality education can find an appropriate place in middle school and high school.  I also believe this could be supported by more open conversation as a whole in our country.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

I plan on finishing my education and receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Legal Studies and Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin in the Spring of 2016. Upon graduation, I plan on starting a career in public relations, hopefully with an emphasis in the sports industry. I would like to eventually attend Law School, to further my education and public relations career.

While all of this is going on, my family is in the process of opening up another Culver’s restaurant franchise. Culver’s started in Wisconsin and is famous for their Butterburgers and rich custard. My goal is to help this operation get up and running, while making it a successful and sustainable business. I hope to always stay very involved in this family business.

Within the next five years, I also hope to continue to stay involved in my community - volunteering with the local Humane Society, staying connected with my friend, Carolyn, through Best Buddies (an organization that pairs those with physical and intellectual disabilities with a ‘buddy’), and helping fund girls in developing countries go to school through the She’s the First organization.

Finally, and most importantly to me, I hope to maintain the close relationships I have with my family - my parents, my brother, my sister and brother-in-law, and especially my niece and goddaughter, Tessa.

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I think physical appearance is important in-so-far that YOU, yourself, are comfortable with how you look. But this starts from within. I truly believe that if you feel good on the inside - confident, secure, happy, BEAUTIFUL - that these qualities, and this inner-beauty, will reflect on the outside. If you are comfortable with whom you are, and the person you are, then you’re beauty will show from both the inside and the outside.

IF YOU COULD GO ON A BLIND DATE WITH ANY MAN (OR WOMAN), WHOM WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

I have this really ridiculous crush on Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks. Not only is he a former Wisconsin Badger (I am currently a student at the University of Wisconsin), but through his social media posts, I believe that is a very genuine and generous person. He visits the Seattle Children’s Hospital every Tuesday (I love a man that gives back to his community) and he always posts pictures of his dogs - which means he is a dog person, just like me! So not only is Russell very handsome, but he’s a good person too! Definitely my dream date!

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

I would love to be Kate Middleton for a week. I personally would use the week to raid her closet, as I love her classy and elegant style; play with Prince George, as I love babies (I have a one-year-old niece who I adore); and to simply explore the royal castle/grounds, as I’m a huge nerd when it comes to history - I love it!

WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT AMERICA FACES?

I think the greatest challenge America faces currently, is bipartisanship. In America, the two-party ideology is clearly not working. We can’t come to a compromise on anything, and representatives in both parties are pressured to stick together and to party lines. Once both the Republican and Democratic parties can find common ground and a way to work together, America will be a stronger nation. We need Congress to put bipartisan politics aside and focus on the American public’s best interests.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE U.S.A.?

The U.S.A. is the land of opportunity and truly of the ‘American Dream.’ I have witnessed it firsthand - through my father. My father grew up in a family of 7 boys and 2 girls. With this many kids, needless to say, money was tight, so my father began working at a young age. He worked at a service gas station, and made just enough to get by. My father was able to attend college (we are so blessed for the educational opportunities we have in America) and worked hard to achieve a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My father practiced mechanical engineering for over 30 years, until deciding he wanted to pursue something different. This is what is so great about the American Dream - having the opportunities to pursue different careers and the freedom to take on new things. My dad decided to give up his mechanical engineering career, and purchased a franchise restaurant that’s popular in the Midwest - Culver’s! My dad has had great success with this business and is now in the process of opening up another one at a different location. My father’s story is an example of how America is truly the land of opportunity and how we, the American people, should be so grateful for the freedom of the choices we are provided with.

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE CORRELATION BETWEEN PORNOGRAPHY AND RAPE?

I would need to see data to suggest this correlation to form an opinion, but I do agree that we have an ever-present problem of violence against women in this country. I think that we, as a society, need to be more open about discussing this sensitive subject in order to solve it. Domestic violence is something that can be prevented, but it has to start with a conversation. I encourage anyone experiencing any violence to speak up and tell someone, because they are not alone.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

I don’t think there should be a certain age when people are forced to retire. I think that an individual should always have the choice to retire, but if a hard working man or woman wants to continue to work after a certain age, I don’t think we should stop them! I take my dad as an example (although I hope that he does one day retire, because he deserves it for how hard he’s worked his whole life), but he’s the type of individual who always wants to be doing something and growing as a person. So I always joke with him that he’ll never retire. I admire him for his hard work and contribution to the American economy.

I think it’s completely unfair to suggest this. I think that terrorists are terrorists, regardless of their religious ideology. Religion is a very personal matter, before it becomes an organizational one. Just because some terrorists choose to associate their religion with these horrible acts of violence, doesn’t suggest all Muslims are taught the Islamic religion in this way or that Islam isn’t a religion of peace.

PEOPLE SAY THAT MOST PAGEANT CONTESTANTS ARE RELIGIOUS. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

I think this is a generalization and I don’t think it’s fair to generalize pageant contestants into any one broad category.  Pageant contestants are one of the most diverse group of women you will ever meet.  I do, howler, think that most pageant contestants have a great sense of spirituality.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

An ethical person is someone who has morals to the highest standards. They are honest, trustworthy, and always morally conscious of their decisions. Since we all make mistakes, for we are only human, an ethical person is also someone who recognizes his/her mistakes and finds a way to resolve them.

CAN A PERSON WHO WAS BORN A MALE, BUT WHO HAS A SEX REASSIGNMENT TO BECOME FEMALE, BE TRULY A FEMALE IN YOUR OPINION?

I think instead of focusing on the ‘2 opposite sexes’ model we have in our culture, we should just be accepting and respectful of others and their decisions to do what they want with their bodies.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

I’ll admit that I’m not the best about keeping everyone up-to-date with my life through social media, but a potential employer would definitely learn a thing or two about me through these accounts. First, they would learn that I’m absolutely in love with my one-year-old niece, Tessa, and enjoy spending time with her in my free time. Second, they would learn that I am very close with my family. And third, they would learn that I have a great love for my state as I post pictures of the beautiful architecture and nature present in both my hometown of Lake Mills, and my current city of Madison.

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

I have gained a brand-new mindset, topped off with professional and personal skills I will carry on for my lifetime. Before competing in pageants, and also as a result from growing up in a small Midwestern town, I was pretty closed off to all the world had to offer. I wanted more, and I wanted to experience something new and totally different than anything I’d every done before. I started competing in pageants when I was a freshman in high school, and after my first competition, I was hooked. I met so many amazing new people, learned about the importance of poise and presentation, and was given the chance to practice public speaking, which I have such a passion for. But what I loved most about every time I competed, is that it opened up my mind to endless possibilities and really gave me a brand-new open mindset of ‘the sky is the limit.’ Pageants have taught me about how hard work and focus can lead to accomplishing big dreams.

SOME STATES STILL PRACTICE THE DEATH PENALTY AS PUNISHMENT FOR HORRENDOUS CRIMES. DO YOU THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE ABOLISHED? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I do believe that the death penalty should be abolished. As a legal studies major, I have learned extensively about this topic in my classes at the University of Wisconsin. Research shows that the death penalty is NOT a good deterrent when it comes to crime, and it actually costs more to put someone on death row, than it does to imprison them for life. Many people are usually startled by that latter statement, but most people on death row appeal - most of the time, multiple times - and this raises court costs, lawyer costs, and administrative costs. Not to mention, the lethal injection used nowadays for the death penalty, is expensive itself - to manufacture and deliver. Another problem with the death penalty is that the court does make mistakes, and people are wrongfully convicted.  I think there are other more effective ways to punish someone for their heinous crimes, such as life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

COMPARED TO THE 1950s-1970s, WOMEN TODAY HAVE MORE OPTIONS IN TERMS OF THEIR PERSONAL CHOICES AND PERSONAL LIVES. DESPITE THESE OPTIONS, WHY DO YOU STILL WANT TO BE MISS USA?

I personally find the job of Miss USA to be one of the most prestigious options out there for women, even still today. Miss USA is someone who is relatable, yet inspiring. She is goal-oriented, intelligent, and motivated. Her duties require her to convey those characteristics and more in her everyday life, while also seeking to improve the lives of others. “To do more for the world than the world than the world does for you, that is success.” (Henry Ford)

I want to be the next Miss USA, because I believe I have what it takes to be the selfless and passionate leader the job requires.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

     Genuine. Confident. Loving.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

I would come back as a lioness because they are strong and nurturing.

HAVE YOU SEEN "50 SHADES OF GREY?" IF YOU HAVE, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT? IF YOU HAVEN'T, WOULD YOU SEE IT?

I have not seen it, but I would consider seeing it only after reading the book. Many people have told me it was a great book and I love to read!

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

I do think that sexuality education should be a part of the curriculum in American schools. Whether it is in elementary or middle school, I think it's important for young people to be educated on topics that affect them personally; it allows them to make better and more informed decisions in life.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

Besides my goal of becoming Miss USA, I hope to begin my career in the fashion industry. I also hope to begin to collect the necessary resources and knowledge that I need to start my own fashion brand. Lastly, I would love to further my modeling career within the next 5 years.

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

Although I would never say I deserve the crown, I would tell her that she is entitled to her own opinion, and I respect that. But I would also tell her that I work very hard to achieve my goals and that is something I am extremely proud of.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY PAGEANT PHOTOGRAPHY

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I do believe physical appearance is important because everyone should feel comfortable in his or her own skin. Feeling good about the way you look helps you feel and act more confident. That is why I think it's healthy to put some importance on physical appearance because it pushes you to be fit, live a healthier lifestyle, and also encourages you to dress in a way that makes you feel the most beautiful.

DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAN (OR IF YOU'RE GAY, DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WOMAN).

My dream man is someone who is respectful, loyal, honest, and trustworthy. Someone who can make me laugh and knows how to cheer me up when I am feeling down. My dream man is someone who can be my other half- someone who is supportive and who would love me unconditionally, without being afraid to show it.

CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT DESIGNER SHOES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Designer shoes are not a necessity so I would say that I could definitely live without them. But as a person who loves fashion, I would have to mention that I do love shoes!

HAVE YOU EVER HAD COSMETIC SURGERY OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION TO YOUR APPEARANCE?

I personally have not had any cosmetic surgery or any other alteration to my appearance. Although I have not had anything changed or enhanced, I am not against it. I think that if people want to change something to feel more confident in the way they look, and that makes them happy, then I am completely okay with that.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE U.S.A.?

I am most proud of the freedom and opportunities we have as Americans here in the USA. We take our freedom and these opportunities for granted sometimes but these are things that people from all over the world dream about having.

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE CORRELATION BETWEEN PORNOGRAPHY AND RAPE?

I wouldn’t necessarily say that pornography leads to rape, but I do believe that pornography has the potential to give people the wrong message.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO RETIRE?

I do not think there should be a certain age when people are forced to retire. I think if someone feels strong and healthy enough to continue working, then they should do so. I believe that keeping busy and doing what you love keeps you living a longer and happier life.

I believe that it is wrong to judge an entire religion based on how some followers choose to practice it. Anything can be read and interpreted in multiple ways, depending on your personal beliefs. I can see how people would believe that Islam is not a religion of peace after some of the terrorist attacks that have occurred, but I do not believe it is fair to judge an entire religion or group of people based on how some individuals have chosen to act. Overall, I think it is unfortunate that people find the need commit acts of terrorism, no matter what their justification might be.

DO YOU SUPPORT LAWS TO REQUIRE MANDATORY BILINGUAL EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

I completely support laws that require mandatory bilingual education for all students in American schools. I think languages are great and help enrich your life. They allow you to communicate with more people and connect with them on a personal level. Learning another language is also good for the brain! I myself love languages; I am trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Italian. I would love to continue to learn more!

PEOPLE SAY THAT MOST PAGEANT CONTESTANTS ARE RELIGIOUS. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

I believe that most pageant contestants are spiritual in some way. Pageant contestants are very dedicated, motivated, inspired, and driven. Therefore, having something to believe in helps most pageant girls stay focused on their goals.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

My definition of an ethical person is someone who knows right from wrong and chooses to do the right thing in any given situation.

WHAT WOULD A POTENTIAL EMPLOYER LEARN ABOUT YOU FROM REVIEWING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR TWITTER?

From viewing my social network accounts, a potential employer would learn that I am an overall positive and happy person. They would also learn that I love to travel, meet new people, and visit new places. They would also learn that I love to smile!

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED BY COMPETING IN PAGEANTS?

Competing in pageants is truly empowering. You grow as an individual after going through each competition. During the process, you learn so much about yourself and you learn how to best present who you are to society. You build up confidence, poise, and strong communication skills. Competing in pageants helps you set goals and it challenges you to be the best version of yourself.

COMPARED TO THE 1950s-1970s, WOMEN TODAY HAVE MORE OPTIONS IN TERMS OF THEIR PERSONAL CHOICES AND PERSONAL LIVES. DESPITE THESE OPTIONS, WHY DO YOU STILL WANT TO BE MISS USA?

It has always been a dream of mine to become Miss USA. Even though women today have more options and freedom, I truly believe in what the Miss Universe Organization stands for. I cannot think of another organization in which women can participate in to gain such a life changing experience. The organization not only gives women a platform to inspire others and touch so many lives, but they also offer their titleholders such unique opportunities in both their personal and professional lives. They help women achieve their career goals by giving them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have had, if they hadn’t been a part of the organization.

Pageantopolis exposes Miss Globe International's fictitious early years and winners

0
0

Miss Globe International (MGI) is an annual pageant owned and produced by Rasim Aydin, a Turkish businessman living in Istanbul, Turkey. The 2014 pageant took place last September in Baku, Azerbaijan which was won by Australia's Esma Voloder.

When you visit the official page, you will notice in the Historical Title Holder section that the pageant began in 1925. But don't let this fool you. When you click the links to the years 1925 until 1986, you will see images of alleged respective winners for those years. Why alleged? Because the images had been taken from the archives of the Miss Winnepausakee pageant, a preliminary to the Miss New Hampshire scholarship pageant. Thanks to Pageantopolis webmaster Donald West's outstanding detective work, we now know that MGI had resorted to stealing and infringing on intellectual property to make their pageant appear historically authentic. Shame on them!

West writes:"The Miss Winnipesaukee archives seems to have been used by Miss Globe International in Turkey as the basis for its 'history' from 1925 to 1986.  For those years when there was no information, the blanks were filled in with photos of movie actresses (all falsely identified) or a few winners from major beauty pageants elsewhere in the world.  It is not known if the Miss Winnipesaukee Organization is aware of this. Here are some examples." :

For the years missing Miss Winnipesaukee data, MGI simply used titleholders from the Misses Universe, World and USA pageants. Here's a couple of examples:

Read West's full write-up in Pageantopolis.

Here's a screenshot of MGI's Historical Title Holder section (click image to link):

Here's a partial screenshot of Miss Winnepausakee's history section (click image to link):

West initially brought this subject to my attention last January 2, 2014 via Facebook. Neither of us was certain if the Miss Winnipesaukee Organization knew about the situation, so I contacted the pageant from its website's Contact page as well as from Facebook, but no one from the organization responded to my inquiry. That was 15 months ago.

Meanwhile, here's a photo of Miss Globe International owner Rasim Aydin holding a framed certificate with Charlie See's name on it. Charlie See (R.I.P. 2007) founded MGI in 1925. There is another pageant also named Miss Globe which is based in Albania and run by Deliart Association, owned by Petri Bozo. Both Aydin and Bozo claim to be the "official" organizers, but that's another topic.

RASIM AYDIN is the CEO of  RCA Global Entertainment Company which produces Miss Globe International

As a pageant fan and big supporter of the pageant industry, I always find it appalling that pageant organizers would resort to deception and/or inaccuracies just to create an impression that their pageant is legitimate. Fortunately, there are some pageant fans who are intelligent enough not to fall for these lies, and that is why those of us who care about integrity and honesty should support the earnest work of Pageantopolis and Critical Beauty, two pageant sites committed to researching the truth and exposing lies.

Baton Rouge to host Miss USA 2015

NEW YORK — April 14, 2015 — NBC, Donald J. Trump and Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, announced today that the 2015 Miss USA Pageant will air live from the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, La., Sunday, July 12 (8-11 p.m. ET) on NBC.
The 2015 Miss USA Pageant will feature contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Contestants will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview, with one contestant ultimately being crowned Miss USA 2015.
“The 2014 Miss USA Pageant delivered an unprecedented amount of national and international exposure for Baton Rouge, taking its reputation for tourism and business opportunities beyond the local level,” says Trump. “This year’s pageant will be no different. Continuing our partnership guarantees another sold-out show that will provide Louisiana’s capital with another three hours of primetime television coverage.”
The Miss Universe Organization will return to the Baton Rouge to produce the 2015 Miss USA Pageant after the tremendous success last summer. The 2014 Miss USA telecast shared the best of Louisiana’s vibrant culture and featured its lively music scene, unique food and proud people. Last year’s pageant concluded with Nia Sanchez, Miss Nevada USA, being crowned Miss USA 2014.
“There is always a genuine feeling of true hospitality when visiting Baton Rouge,” says Shugart. “We have created an incredible partnership with the city and are honored to have the responsibility of sharing what their community has to offer through our worldwide telecasts,” adds Shugart. “Baton Rouge was recently named one of the Top 10 Happiest Cities in America by the National Bureau of Economic Research, which is no surprise to us. We truly cannot wait to go back.”
The Miss Universe Organization will bring on IMG as executive producers of this year’s Miss USA pageant. Recognized as a global leader in sports, fashion and media, the IMG team most recently produced the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant in January. The Miss USA telecast now reaches approximately 70 countries and territories.

Miss Malaysia Universe 2015

KUALA LUMPUR: After a month of intense training, stiff competition and televised challenges, 24-year-old Vanessa Tevi Kumares was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2015.
The tourism management graduate of Indian-Chinese parentage from Seremban shed tears of joy, which quickly dried up as she received the crown and sash from her predecessor, Miss Universe Malaysia 2014 Sabrina Beneett, just after midnight.
Vanessa beat 16 other hopefuls to the crown, and is expected to do the country proud when she takes on the rest of the world early next year.

GIVE THREE ADJECTIVES THAT YOUR FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU.

     Quirky. Creative. Driven.

IF YOU WERE TO COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL IN THE NEXT LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

If I could come back as an animal in the next life I would come back as a tiger. I have always been fascinated by tigers. They are such beautiful, primal animals. Unfortunately, many subspecies of the tiger are either endangered or already extinct. There are more tigers held privately as pets than there are in the wild because of animal poaching, and the destruction of habitats. I would come back as a tiger in hopes to reduce their chance of extinction.

NAME THREE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER DO.

     1. Eat an oyster
     2. Apply for the show "Survivor"
     3. Give up In-N-Out Burger

SHOULD ABORTION BE BANNED IN THE CASES OF WOMEN WHO HAVE REPEATED ABORTIONS, BUT CONTINUE NOT TO USE BIRTH CONTROL?

Although I personally believe it would be negligent and unethical to have repeated abortions while continuing not to use birth control, I stand firm in my opinion that abortion should be a woman’s personal choice. I think every woman should have the opportunity to make the proper life choices for themselves and their bodies. Lena Dunham said it best, “A huge part of being a feminist is giving other women freedom to make choices you might not necessarily make yourself.”

DO YOU THINK THAT "SEXUALITY EDUCATION" SHOULD BE PART OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS?

Yes, I do think “age appropriate” Sex and Relationship Education should be taught in elementary schools. No child is too young to learn about having respect for others, as well as the characteristics of healthy relationships; including a zero tolerance policy against violence and abuse. It’s important to understand that “age appropriate” sexual education focuses on teaching children about their bodies, and preparing young girls and boys for the ways their bodies will change when puberty hits. From that foundation the understanding of sex and other issues can develop in middle school and high school. I believe Sexuality Education should be one of many ‘life skills’ topics taught in schools; including basic financial advice and emergency first aid.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

My goals for the next five years are to become a business women and independent filmmaker. I plan to make an impact on the film industry by putting females in the forefront, not sidelined or highly sexualized. Eventually I plan to build a brand that will encompass my goals in cinema and philanthropic work. Pageantry has given me the platform to reach a broader audience.

IF YOU WON MISS USA AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES TOLD YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THE CROWN, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HER?

If I won Miss USA I would feel let down if one of my fellow titleholders told me that I didn’t deserve the crown. However, I believe everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and unfortunately you can’t control the way other people perceive you. Knowing that, I would shake it off and move on!

IS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IMPORTANT? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I think physical appearance is important because we are expected to make frequent on-the-spot ‘judgments’ about people based on their physical appearance daily. Although we know “appearances can be deceptive,” they have a huge influence on our first impressions, our job interviews, and our daily interactions. Though physical appearance can be influential, having the ability to show people who you really are sets you apart and makes you stand out. I don’t know about you, but I’m most drawn to people who reflect internal characteristics of beauty. Qualities such as grace, humility, and a good sense of humor always beats out physical appearance on it’s own.

DO YOU THINK THAT OUR CULTURE IS TOO PREOCCUPIED WITH BEAUTY? HOW COULD WE CHANGE THAT?

I believe we as a culture have grown accustomed to extremely rigid and uniform standards of beauty as a consequence of the media. The reason our culture is so preoccupied by beauty is because television, billboards, magazines, and even social media have presented women with standards of beauty that are almost unattainable. The way to shift our focus is to champion woman for more than just their beauty. The media needs to help expand the public’s opinion of  beauty by showcasing a variety of diverse women, and establishing new beauty 'values' linked to inner traits like intelligence and strength. After all, I don’t think it’s the goal of attaining beauty that we as a society find valuable, I think it’s the attention that comes along with it that we find desirable.

IF YOU HAD TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN FOR ONE WEEK, WHICH WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE AND WHY?

If I could be another woman for a week I would choose to be Ava Duvernay. Ava Duvernay is female American filmmaker that I admire greatly. She was the first African American woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Director for the film, "Selma." Like Duvernay, my career goal is to become a successful independent filmmaker and eventually transition into big budget cinema. I would love the opportunity to learn from the experiences of being a powerful female director in Hollywood today.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD COSMETIC SURGERY OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION TO YOUR APPEARANCE?

No, I have never had any cosmetic surgery, or made any other alteration to my appearance. Although I haven’t had plastic surgery, I certainly am not against it. I think everyone should have the right to decide what’s right, and what isn’t right for their own bodies.

WHY DO YOU FEEL THERE IS SO MUCH ANTI-AMERICAN SENTIMENT AROUND THE WORLD TODAY?

I think anti-American sentiment exists today because of the conflicting views the world has on American policies; specifically attitudes towards security and military issues. There has been major opposition against recent U.S. drone attacks, anger towards Washington over the U.S. spying on foreign leaders, and controversy about what to do in the Middle East. I think these issues, as well as other problematic topics all add to the anti- American sentiment found around the world.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT AMERICA FACES?

I think the greatest challenge facing America today is the growing divide between the two major political parties in our country. Democrats and Republicans are not only unable to agree, but increasingly seem unable to imagine, or even understand the other party’s point of view. I believe it’s our unwillingness to compromise that is stopping our country from making true progress, and progressively causing deep divisions among us. I believe both parties offer valuable points of view; we need to stop fighting and work towards finding middle ground.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE U.S.A.?

I am most proud of the Freedom of Speech, one of the fundamental values expressed in the United Sates Constitution, under the First Amendment. We are so lucky to live in a country that allows us to express ourselves without the interference of the government. I believe ALL of our civil liberties encompass the spirit of what it means to be an American. No other country has gone to such great lengths to protect the interest of each individual and promote personal empowerment.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH OLDER PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM ALZHEIMER'S AND OTHER LIFE-THREATENING DISEASES WHERE THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES?

A few months ago I watched a CNN special by Dr. Sanjay Gupta about a breakthrough medical village called, “Hogewey,” also known as “Dementia Village” in the Netherlands. It was quite extraordinary. Two Dutch nurses decided to build a village for people with dementia complete with beauty salons, grocery stores, motion sensor elevators, and 24 hr security; all ran by specialized health workers living in the community. Now, I’m not suggesting we create different villages for people suffering from life-threatening conditions. However, the idea of creating an environment where people enduring severe illnesses, like Alzheimer’s disease, can live out the rest of their lives feeling both safe and happy was inspiring to me. I think we should offer facilities with fundamental similarities to places like, “Hogewey” here in America. We need to focus on making efforts towards helping people with life-threatening illnesses feel safe, cared for, and happy; so they too can live out the rest of their lives peacefully.

HOW SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT RESPOND TO THE THREAT OF ISIS?

I think the U.S. government needs to take the threat of ISIS extremely seriously. The Islamic extremist group is responsible for killing innocent, unarmed civilians around the world, and is continuing to grow stronger. Their brazen efforts for recruitment are working; targeting children, specifically young minority girls, into the terrorist group through social media. I was shocked to find out that there were over one thousand westerners that were believed to have traveled to Syria to fight with extremist groups. We need to start taking the threat of ISIS more seriously before they grow into a group that we cannot contain.

I don’t think it is fair to group all Muslims with the Muslim extremist who were responsible for the September 11, terrorist attacks. I think a person’s opinion on whether Islam is a “religion of peace,” or not depends on their perspective. There are extremists in every religion who use their faith to justify acts of violence, tyranny, and terrorism. However, I don’t think it’s fair to characterize all followers of Islam as violent.

SOME STATES STILL PRACTICE THE DEATH PENALTY AS PUNISHMENT FOR HORRENDOUS CRIMES? DO YOU THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE ABOLISHED? WHY OR WHY NOT?

To be completely honest I am undecided on whether I think the death penalty should be abolished or not. In the past I was in support of capital punishment believing that people responsible for heinous crimes, such as rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, or murder should be punishable by death. However, after hearing the Bostonians' opinion against the death penalty for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon Bomber,  I have begun to question whether it’s the government’s right to take another human’s life.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ETHICAL PERSON?

I think the definition of an ethical person is someone who lives by a set of moral principles that reflects the basic human standards of what’s right and what’s wrong. I don’t think you have to be religious to be ethical. I think an ethical person is someone who has respect for themselves, the people around them, and acts accordingly.

COMPARED TO THE 1950s-1970s, WOMEN TODAY HAVE MORE OPTIONS IN TERMS OF THEIR PERSONAL CHOICES AND PERSONAL LIVES. DESPITE THESE OPTIONS, WHY DO YOU STILL WANT TO BE MISS USA?

The goal of winning Miss USA is only one of my dreams. I want the Miss USA pageant, whether I win or lose, to be the stepping stone towards my overall career goals in the entertainment industry. As women we do have more options than ever to advance our personal and professional lives. The title of Miss USA would only be the start of my story.

Runner-up of beauty pageant suing CEO of Miss World Canada for unpaid prizes

Tamara Jemuovic, 1st runner-up of the Miss World Canada 2013 beauty pageant is suing the
organization’s CEO for unpaid prizes.

The second-place winner of the Miss World Canada 2013 beauty pageant is suing the Vancouver-based organization for $25,000 worth of unpaid prizes and general damages.

Tamara Jemuovic claims in her lawsuit to be heard Friday that she won 1st Runner Up at the Miss World Canada pageant held in May 2013 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond.

She also won People’s Choice Award and was awarded a number of prizes, including two one-year gym memberships, two luxury trips to Las Vegas and $750 cash prize, which the University of Toronto student claims she could have used.

She claims in her civil lawsuit that she never received all her prizes.

“I felt I was taken advantage of,” Jemuovic, 21, said in an interview before the trial Friday in Richmond provincial court.

She said she repeatedly contacted Miss World Canada and its CEO Ike Lalji, questioning why she never received her prizes.

Initially, she said, she was told the prizes were forthcoming.

“I waited and waited and then I never heard back from them,” Jemuovic said.

She was eventually told that she was in breach of her contract because she had competed in another beauty contest in August of 2013.

“Generally, we feel she breached the agreement by being involved in another beauty pageant,” said Dean Davison, lawyer for Miss World Canada.

He said the plaintiff should not have taken part in another beauty pageant for one year.

“I didn’t breach the agreement,” Jemuovic said. “The agreement said I couldn’t compete in another beauty pageant before May 2013, when the Miss World Canada pageant was.”

She added: “I campaigned so much for this pageant. I won the people’s choice award.”

She also claims she raised a total of $5,000 for the Variety Children’s Charity and raised another $13,000 for another charity.

Miss World Canada donated $67,233 last year to the Variety charity.

Jemuovic said she finally got fed up with waiting and filed her lawsuit. She is seeking a total of $25,000 in damages, plus court costs, including $8,000 for loss of prizes, $17,000 for general damages and loss of benefits, and court ordered interest from May 9, 2013. Davison added Miss World Canada believes the plaintiff’s claim is inflated.

Miss World Canada will be held May 16 this year in Vancouver and includes a welcoming letter to contestants from Premier Christy Clark on the Miss World Canada website.
