Mariana Varela, 23, was crowned Miss Universe Argentina last Wednesday night in Buenos Aires. She will now represent Argentina in the next edition of Miss Universe whose date and venue have not yet been confirmed. The first runner-up is Julieta Garcia and the second runner-up is Luisina Ojeda. The Miss Universe Argentina pageant is now directed by Osmel Sousa, the legendary beauty queen maker responsible for Venezuela's multiple successes in international pageantry.
The last time that Argentina placed in Miss Universe was in 2014 when Valentina Ferrer made the top 10. And in 1962, Norma Nolan won the first Miss Universe crown for the country.
