Nova Stevens of Vancouver, British Columbia was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2020. She will now represent Canada in the next edition of Miss Universe whose date and venue have not been confirmed. A Black Lives Matter activist, Stevens did the black power salute during her coronation.
After her family fled a brutal civil war in South Sudan, Nova was sent alone to Canada at age 6 to be able to have a better life, according to her bio posted on the Miss Universe Canada website. She is one of the tallest contestants at 6 feet tall.
